Lee Friedlander - Blog Response
Lee Friedlander is an American photographer born in 1934. His work involves a lot of urban areas, people, and shadows. He also does a lot of self portraits, both with his shadow and with his actual self. I love his self portraits so much. My favorite two are pictured below. Not only are they technically good, they're just silly selfies. They're both shot in great locations and have very unique vibes to them. The ability to get the all the dark areas, like the water and leaves, and also get the light white clouds makes the photos stand out a lot.

His work in urban settings involves a lot of buildings and people. I really like these photos too because I'm a maximalist and I love the 'busy' photos with different components all over. I love all the different areas of the photos and how they fit together. I feel like all of his urban photos are full to a level where you can look for a while and keep finding something new. Kinda like an 'ISpy' book or something.
Overall I think Freidlander is my favorite photographer we've looked at so far. His work is both technically good and visually appealing. A lot of silly components. It seems like he enjoys photography and likes to have fun with what he does.
