Arnold Newman - Blog Response

Arnold Newman was an American photographer known for his environmental portraits and still life images. I quite like his work and the concepts behind them. He has done portraits of regular people, celebrities, and politicians. His work features photos of Pablo Picasso and former president John F. Kennedy. His work is very much something that I am interested in and aligns with photography that I like. I think he has a great ability to turn a regular portrait into something interesting to look at.

The image above is the first one that caught my eye and the reason I chose this photographer over the other options. I think this portrait is so unique. The pose the man is in, the window lighting from the right, the objects around the couch. It all turns this regular portrait into something much more complex in my opinion.

As a political science major, I can't not mention the portraits of Kennedy. While not necessarily as complex as the one above, it still is a really cool photo and feels like it would have been a fun experience, especially when considering how Kennedy's presidency went.

I really enjoy portraits of people and think they make for a really cool photo.
